Whether or not you’re a lover of winter sports, the Town of Beech Mountain has something for you to love. Each year, Santa visits the 4 Seasons at Beech to find out what children would like for Christmas. This year, he’ll be there from 2-4 pm on Saturday, December 15th. Santa will also be at the Beech Mountain Resort on the 16th. More family fun can be had on the evening of December 21st, when the Town of Beech Mountain holds its annual Bonfire and Hayride beside the Brick Oven Pizzeria. For some fun for older folks, December 21st is also the date of the Beech Mountain Bourbon Society’s Battle of the Bourbons at the Beech Mountain Taproom and Grill from 6-9 pm. Tickets can be purchased at
www.beechmountainresort.com. The Beech Mountain Resort will host a family-friendly New Year’s Eve celebration at the lodge, as well as an adults-only celebration with music by Soul Play at the Taproom and Grill, on 31st. Ice skating under the stars will be available, and there will be fireworks at midnight.
January will feature great weather for skiing, snowboarding, ice skating and tubing at the resort, and great winter hiking on the town’s 25+ miles of public hiking trails. The ever-popular Town of Beech Mountain Sledding Hill, for kids ages 12 and under, will be open seven days a week. There’s no charge to use the hill. Every weekend features live music at the Beech Mountain Resort, as well as around town, and there will several pancake breakfast fundraisers during the winter season. The annual Beech Mountain BeerFest will be January 5th, and around 30 regional breweries will showcase their brews at the Beech Mountain Taproom and Grill. January 12th and 13th the Beech Mountain Resort will host USCSA races, and the 14th through 18th will be the 38th Annual DSUSA SPARC Adaptive Ski Week.
