Get Ready For Snow Much Fun In Stokes County!

Stokes County, NC

For decades #StokesCo has been deeply rooted in its rich rural agricultural and farming heritage.  Nearby in the northern Piedmont-Triad, the area is characterized by rolling hills, fertile valleys, and scenic beauty of the Sauratown Mountains. An area that became particularly well-known for its Bright Leaf tobacco production, which was a major cash crop in the 19th and early 20th centuries. The county’s soil and climate were ideal for tobacco farming, and many local families were involved in the cultivation, curing, and marketing of the cash crop. So much so, it shaped the social and economic fabric of the county, leading to the development of warehouses, processing facilities, and a network of small, family-run farms. The tobacco industry also influenced the architecture of the area, with tobacco barns being a common sight in the rural landscape.
