With everyone in North Carolina looking to get outdoors, we’d recommend looking to Granville County and four unique spaces in Creedmoor and Butner.
Lake Rogers
The largest and most spectacular park in Creedmoor is located at Lake Rogers. Located on Highway 56, Lake Rogers is a shallow lake covering 175 acres, has 4 picnic shelters with additional picnic tables scattered throughout the park.
Harris Park
A more traditional park is Harris Park. Named after the late Reverend Iley Harris, the founder and pastor of Harris Missionary Baptist Church, Harris Park is open to the public from sunrise to sunset and features a large picnic shelter (20×24) with two picnic tables, a playground with swings and benches.
Gauntlet Fitness & Walking Trail
This third park is a bit more unique. The 1.1 mile trail is outfitted with a variety of fitness stations designed to challenge hikers. The trail is ideally suited for the 76.8-acre site.
Lake Holt
A fishing paradise, the 385 acre lake does allow fishing boats, and, since they restrict jet skis or any ski activity, the water is smooth, calm, and ready to fish. Non-power boat rentals are available with kayaks, paddleboards, johnboats leading in popularity. Another benefit for those fishing – Due to its primary use as a water reservoir, there is no swimming permitted at the lake.
Outside the water there is a 10 acre recreation area that includes 13 picnic tables and one picnic shelter with 8 picnic tables. A hidden gem at the lake is the Lake Holt Grill and Marina.
