Come Visit Granville County This Holiday Season

Granville County, NC

The Granville Experience is an alternative to what you have – A yin, to the everyday yang. Yet this alternative is not far away, but in your own back yard – steps away.

It is not a location, but a place. A place where you can gather, relax, inhale/exhale, and discover new places and friends. Come visit Granville County this Holiday Season and see why it is Uniquely Carolina.

December is a time to gather in Granville County for one of the many Christmas events that draw families to their local communities.  The first full weekend of December means Christmas in the Park in Butner on Friday the 6th and their Christmas Parade on Saturday the 7th. That same schedule is held in neighboring Creedmoor with the Tree Lighting on the 6th, and the Creedmoor Christmas Parade on Saturday.  The Christmas fun is not limited to the southern part of the county, as the town of Oxford offers their “Lighting on the Green” and Christmas Parade on Friday the 6th as well. Dance teams, Santa, floats and music are the highlights with decorations adding to all the shows. If a more close-up Holiday experience is what you seek, consider Breakfast with Santa at HighRock Farms on both the 7th and 8th.

December is also a good time to step-away from the hustle and bustle of the Triangle and get local in Granville County. Two events standout, on Saturday the 7th you can enjoy Christmas Dinner at Thorndale Oaks, and on the 14th Carlee Farms presents its Holiday Marketplace featuring goods from over 30 local vendors.

Sometimes you just need to take a break and simply exhale.  What better place to decompress than at the Granville Christmas Farm as it transforms into a Christmas light show! From the tunnel of lights to Santa and his reindeer, to a wonderful nativity scene, the farm’s light show will light up the hearts of the entire family. Viewed from the comfort of your car, the Holiday Show allows you to drive through the display at a leisurely pace.

Finally, we should all use the Christmas Holiday to re-discover the purpose of Christmas. In Granville County that means Oxford’s Delrayno Baptist Church presentation of their “Back to Bethlehem” – Drive-Thru Nativity from Dec. 14-16. By following a brilliant light that can be seen from counties afar, cars pass through a detailed recreation of the Town of Bethlehem including the marketplace, various shops, town’s people hustling about, the Inn that was full, and myriads of Angels announcing the Birth of Jesus.
