The Granville Experience is an alternative to what you have—a yin to the everyday yang. Yet this alternative isn’t far away, but right in your own backyard—just steps away.
It’s not merely a location, but a place. A place to gather, relax, inhale and exhale, and discover new spaces and new friends. Come visit Granville County this Holiday Season and see why it is Uniquely Carolina.
December is a time to gather in Granville County for one of the many Christmas events that bring families together across our communities. The first full weekend of December means Christmas in the Park in Butner on Friday the 5th, followed by the Butner Christmas Parade on Saturday the 6th. That same weekend, Creedmoor shines with its Tree Lighting on the 5th and the Creedmoor Christmas Parade on Saturday. Not to be outdone, the town of Oxford hosts its own Lighting of the Greens and Christmas Parade on Friday the 5th, complete with dance teams, Santa, floats, and music that fill downtown with festive cheer.
A new favorite emerges at The Viking Experience this year. Drekheim Village transforms for a traditional Viking Yule Celebration, December 6–7 in Oxford. Step into a world where ancient Norse customs meet modern holiday joy. Enjoy themed vendors, mead, games, axe throwing, kids’ treasure hunt, and a Saturday night processional, with competitions on Sunday. (Tickets: Sat $15, Sun $10, Weekend $20, Kids 8 & under free.)
On Sunday, December 14, The Ox Theater in Oxford City Hall welcomes Nashville Noel: A Country Christmas Spectacular. Doors open at 6:00 PM, show starts at 7:00 PM. This high-energy celebration blends the heart of country music with the magic of Christmas—featuring top-notch talent, toe-tapping tunes, and Music City spirit that’s sure to fill you with joy.
When you’re ready to unwind, take a drive through the Granville Christmas Farm as it glows with lights, Santa, reindeer, and a beautiful nativity scene. Stay in your car, sip cocoa, and enjoy the wonder at your own pace.
Finally, rediscover the true meaning of Christmas at Oxford’s Delrayno Baptist Church “Back to Bethlehem” Drive-Thru Nativity, December 13–15. Follow the light through a detailed presentation of Bethlehem and the story of the first Christmas.
