Sometimes Smaller Is Better!

Tucked into the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains sits a tiny gem called Round Peak Vineyards. One of the first wineries in the Yadkin Valley, Round Peak Vineyards is a boutique winery focused on small lot winemaking and is charmingly individual. The current owners Ken Gulaian and wife Kari Heerdt took over in 2008 and have remained dedicated to the production of classic French and Italian style estate wines. Their personalities can’t help but show through in the winery though. Ken’s tireless dedication and Kari’s free-spirited nature come together to make Round Peak Vineyards what it is. A place where you can have an award-winning glass of wine, in a totally relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.

By keeping things small they have been able to explore more creative endeavors. Skull Camp Brewing was started on the back patio in 2012 and was named after the nearby Skull Camp Mountain. While the brewery has expanded and moved to Elkin, NC, Round Peak still carries a selection of Skull Camp craft beers, as well as a list of off-dry to sweet wines under the Skull Camp wines brand, the first wine canned in North Carolina.  Over the years they have added rental cabins, and regularly host weddings as well as private and corporate events. Most of the guests come for the wine but end up staying for the outstanding views from the back patio.  As much as Ken and Kari have added to the customer experience at Round Peak Vineyards, one thing will never change. Round Peak Vineyards will always be small and personable.
