Gaston County Sets The Perfect Stage For The Red Bull Pump Track World Championship

The Red Bull Pump Track World Championship heads to back to the USA – this time its Gaston County, North Carolina – in what is set to make for an epic day of pump track racing with some of the best riders in MTB and BMX ready to give it all on the track.

The Red Bull Pump Track World Championship has already succeeded in creating a revolutionary global series with over 23 groundbreaking inaugural events around the world in 2018. More than 2000 athletes participated in over 19 countries and 67 riders competed in a World Final that saw local heroes, Olympic BMX racers and MTB World Champions compete on an even playing field. Now in 2019, the series is back with more stops, more athletes and more Pump-Action.

We are all set to travel to the gently rolling hills, riverbeds and creek valleys of Gaston County, USA for yet another thrilling day out on the track! It is here at George Poston Park where North Carolina’s first ever Velosolutions pump track has been constructed. The 10,000 square foot pump track here is complemented by over 10 miles of single track at the facility and will set the stage for yet another exciting qualifier added to our program.

GO Gaston, charged with optimizing brand experiences and driving visitation and partner economic growth for Gaston County, are excited at the prospect. “We are jacked to be hosting a Red Bull event during our first year with a Velosolutons track. The pump track has been an incredible asset for drawing interest in our destination and welcoming a World Qualifier this fall creates another level of excitement.” – Michael Applegate, Director, GO Gaston.

Bike Fest and so much more

On Saturday, September 22, Gaston County Parks & Recreation will be hosting their annual Bikefest. Bikefest will feature bike vendors, food trucks, entertainment and local breweries. During the event, there will be guided mountain bike rides and demos of skateboarding, longboarding, and other outdoor sports culminating in the second Red Bull Pump Track World Championship Qualifier on US soil for the 2019 season.

“We are absolutely thrilled to partner with Velosolutions and Red Bull to host a Red Bull Pump Track World Championship Qualifier in Gaston County. This pump track is still the only Velosolutions pump track in the Carolinas. Our destination has many outdoor sports offerings, so hosting this event is a great way to showcase those amenities.” – Brandon Black, Sales & Marketing Manager, GO Gaston.

Gaston County offers visitors a variety of attractions to enhance your trip including museums, botanical gardens, extreme sports, hiking, dining and entertainment parks, art and history and more.
