Looking For Fun, Free Activities This Summer?

Gaston County has a wealth of parks with countless activities for all ages to enjoy that are fun, affordable, and right around the corner.

Gaston County Parks are much more than swings and picnic tables. Fourteen parks on the  Park Hop Scavenger Hunt. Park Hop is a fun and exciting way for you and your family to explore Gaston County parks while being physically active.

Mountain bikers have been riding George Poston Park’s five stacked, dirt loops for over a decade, with trails climbing Spencer Mountain for 10 miles from the lakeside trailhead. With the new pump track, riders can warm up with a few loops on the track before hopping on the trails. The Red Bull Pump Track World Championship Qualifier is being at the George Poston Park Pump Track on September 21-22.

Goat Island Park & Greenway is 29 acres in the middle of the South Fork River. The park has a killer 18 hole disc golf course, dog park, walking trails, two playgrounds, six concrete corn hole boards, two ping pong tables, a fishing pier, and two shelters with grills.

Dallas Park had Equestrian Facilities with a show ring, 124 stalls, an amphitheater, walking trials, bike rental, and three fishing lakes.

You still have 11 more parks to explore and answer the questions on your scavenger hunt passport.
