Join us in downtown Elkin on Friday, December 6th for our annual Light up Elkin Celebration! The event is from 5 pm till 9 pm, but our downtown library starts events earlier for the little ones around 3:30pm.
Festivities start after 5 pm with hay rides, train rides, a live nativity, and visits with holiday characters like the Grinch, Cindy Lou Who and Max, Anna & Elsa, holiday elves and the Lords and Ladies of Light! At 6:00 pm, the Light-Up kick-off at the east end of Main Street (across from 222 E Main St) begins. Santa arrives at the Light-Up location, then heads towards W Main St for visits with the children at the Three Trails hotel lobby. Vote for your favorite holiday decorations throughout downtown, enjoy holiday shopping, live music scattered throughout, carolers and holiday characters along Main St. Then at 7:00 pm., enjoy a live holiday show with children from the community singing & dancing on stage at 257 Standard St. Later that night live entertainment will be at The Reeves Theater with Donna the Buffalo returning to Elkin for a 2-night show! The Foothills Arts Council’s Merry Makers Market (held inside the Wisdom Table on Main St) offers beautiful holiday gifts for sale Friday and Saturday. Enjoy a night of festive holiday small-town charm like no other in the region, including food trucks, market vendors, the Sweet Tooth Zone, downtown restaurants and a festive nightlife afterward!
If you can’t make it Friday the 6th to Light up Elkin, then come the following weekend on Friday Dec 13th at 7pm and enjoy a night of iconic holiday tunes during LIGHT UP THE REEVES, with the one and only ELKIN BIG BAND, live at the fabulous Reeves Theater & Cafe (reevestheater.com).
