Join Explore Elkin for our 4th Annual Community Gathering!

We will kick off the evening with a social hour featuring live music from The Box Dogs, heavy hors d’oeuvres provided by Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital and Chick Fil A, and a cash bar.

We will have comment and suggestion cards spread around the room for you to document and share your ideas with the Explore Elkin team.

5:00 – Live Music from The Box Dogs
6:00 – Brief Update on Explore Elkin (Including plans for 2nd Annual NC Trail Days scheduled June 4-7, 2020)
6:30 – Keynote Address by Melody Warnick, Writer, Author of “This is Where You Belong: Finding Home Wherever You Are”. Melody also wrote the article on Explore Elkin last year, “How do You Reinvent a Rural Economy? $100 at a Time” that appeared in Daily Yonder.

In her keynote address Melody asks the question “What’s the number one thing you can do to help your small town thrive? Answer: “Get the people who live there to fall more in love with it.” She then uses stats and stories to explain simple strategies that will boost place attachment, well-being, economic growth, and talent attraction and retention right here in Elkin.

We will close the evening with music, fellowship and passionate conversation around plans for the future of our community and leave with a renewed level of energy and enthusiasm for the journey ahead. Several lucky attendees will leave with a variety of wonderful door prizes and Explore Elkin bling to add to the fun.
