Situated atop a knoll outside Morganton with gorgeous views of the South Mountains is Silver Fork Winery. Owners
Jennifer Foulides and Ed Wisnieski left corporate America behind in 2013 to move south and create a place to sip, nibble and relax.
Silver Fork Winery is just that place. The wines have received high praise, particularly the Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc and Rosé, along with a red wine blend named Four Dog Red after the owners’ canine kids.
Following a tasting in the cozy tasting room, most folks elect to move out to the patio or firepit area where a gentle breeze often wafts across the property. It’s quite easy to spend an entire afternoon or evening in this gorgeous setting, especially with the Stockwild Kitchen food truck serving up farm-to-fork appetizers and small plates on the weekends.
Needless to say, the winery and grounds are pet friendly. Human friendly, too. Guests are free to stay as long as they like, roam the grounds and just be.
Live music takes place every Saturday from 2-5pm, and one Saturday evening a month the vineyards are transformed into an outdoor cinema for Movie Under the Stars Night.
This summer’s theme is “feed me,” with a lineup of culinary-related flicks. The July 27th movie is “Julie & Julia” and the Aug. 31st movie is “Hundred Foot Journey.”
A newly-minted event pavilion is available to handle groups and special occasions.

I’d like to come up to see the next movie on Aug. 31st “Hundred-Foot Journey.”
Thanks for all the great destination ideas for day trips from Tennessee! Definitely adding Silver Fork Winery to my list.
