Just opened, the Esquire hotel in downtown Gastonia is a boutique hotel where past meets present. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, it was a bank in 1918 and later became known as The Lawyers Building. A six-year renovation transformed the Classic Revival-style building into a downtown luxury hotel, an architectural jewel featuring 35 guest rooms, an all-day restaurant aptly named Barrister’s, and a nostalgic coffee nook downstairs named the Notary. In the works is a rooftop venue giving you the most extraordinary views of your sunset. The esquire hotel is an experience with top-notch service, exquisite dining, and historic spaces. This is your downtown base camp.

If you need to turn your base camp into a full-blown powwow, the Gastonia Conference Center is less than a block away. This state of the art facility accommodates over 450 meeting attendees and 300 people for a banquet. With the latest technology and multiple room configurations, this is an excellent alternative to hosting your large group in a crowded city.

Webb Custom Kitchen

While are you are enjoying historic downtown Gastonia you must stop into Webb Custom Kitchen. This award-winning restaurant is in a theater that was built in the 1920s. Beautifully restored, and keeping the original charm of the venue, including the screen.  Farm to table cuisine and a craft cocktail program second to none. When you walk in, you’ll be impressed. When your food arrives, you’ll be captivated!

If quick access in and out of your base camp is essential to you, you’ll need to check out some of the hotels along interstate 85 in Gastonia. Just off the interstate with dozens of dining options available to you, These hotels will get you on the road without delay. 

The Courtyard by Marriott is the first hotel off the interstate, and it features a pool, fitness center, a fire pit, and a Starbucks in the lobby.
