Mark your calendars and make your plans now to meet us in Gaston County for these three great events; Adventure Race and opening of the Boathouse in McAdenville, Tuck Fest at US National Whitewater Center and Red Bull UCI Pump Track World Championships with Bike Fest at George Poston Park. A great time will be had by all who make their way for these fun filled, outdoor experiences in Gaston County.
Adventure Race & Boathouse Opening – April 1–3
South Fork Sampler: Adventure Race – Human Powered Movement is thrilled to bring a brand-new Adventure Race to our backyard in Gaston County for participants of all skill levels on April 1 and 2. The South Fork Sampler will showcase the natural beauty and recreational options of the region while raising money for the Catawba Riverkeeper.
Starting and finishing at The Boathouse in McAdenville (formerly Catawba Riverkeeper’s Outfitter), this beginner friendly scavenger hunt style event will task individuals and teams to collect as many pre-determined checkpoints as possible in the shortest amount of time. The fastest will be crowned the winner of the inaugural South Fork Sampler!
Opening of the Boathouse – The Boathouse on the South Fork River opens for its second year, renting kayaks, stand up paddleboards, and canoes as well as offering tours of the river. The Boathouse is a center for authentic outdoor experiences on the banks of the South Fork River, the largest tributary of the Catawba River.
Tuck Fest – April 29 – May 1
Tuck Fest is a multi-day festival that celebrates the outdoor lifestyle through competitions, exhibitions, demos, and live music at the U.S. National Whitewater Center. The festival features a variety of outdoor competitions that include trail running, kayaking, biking, climbing, stand-up paddleboarding, obstacles, and adventure racing. In six years, Tuck Fest has grown from 14,000 attendees in 2013 to over 48,000 attendees in 2019. Make your reservations now for the best and closest places to stay for this event.
Red Bull – MAY 20 -22
Red Bull UCI Pump Track World Championships – Surrounded by forest in a 344-acre park, George Poston Park plays host to the first USA Qualifier on the 2022 calendar on their technical and tight Velosolutions Pump Track. It’s a perfectly sized inverted symmetrical track ideal for head-to-head racing as well as straight-through riding. There are too many transitions to count and endless lines to keep you busy. This is the third qualifier for Gaston County in the series and it promises an immense day of racing.
The USA Pump Track Championships (USAPTC) – Accessible to all residents of the United States of America and held exclusively on Velosolutions Pump Tracks. Local heroes and first time racers have the chance to battle it out against each other for the ultimate bragging rights and experience. Bring your BMX or Mountain Bike and join us for an awesome day of competition and fun!
BikeFest – Gaston County Parks & Recreation will be hosting its annual BIKEFEST. Featuring DJ music, food trucks, beverages, local bike shop vendors, bike demos, trail rides, and so much more!
