March, 2026

Springtime is blooming across Granville County, bringing sunny days, mild evenings, and a full calendar of events that showcase the area’s signature Carolina hospitality. As flowers open and temperatures rise, so does the excitement there’s something happening nearly every weekend.

The season launches in late March with the popular “The Viking Experience,” held over the final two weekends of the month. This immersive event transforms the landscape into a lively Norse village, complete with axe throwing, mead tastings, live-action sword battles, and interactive workshops like the Valhalla Training Class. Take the kids to the Children’s Cove featuring unique kid’s shows and entertainment, and make sure to browse craft vendors and feast like a Norde legend. Whether you’re drawn by ancestral roots or simply curious about Viking lore, it’s an unforgettable way to welcome spring.

Art lovers have plenty to anticipate as well. During the first two weekends in April (April 3-5 and April 11-12), the Cedar Creek Gallery in Creedmoor will host its Spring Pottery & Glass Festival. Guests can browse handcrafted works, meet talented artists from across the region and beyond, and watch live demonstrations. The creative energy continues May 2nd when downtown Oxford hosts the “Main Street Arts & Wine Festival,” blending fine art, live entertainment, and wine tastings into one festive afternoon.

Music also takes center stage this spring. The Bullock Beach Music Bash returns early April 4th, signaling the start of beach music season with lively performances by Konnection and Jim Quick & Coastline. The Ox Theater at Oxford City Hall has a series of concerts including the Ultimate Eagles Experience on April 10th. And if tribute bands are your thing you don’t want to miss the Ultimate Elvis Performance “Aloha from Las Vegas Show” at Thorndale Oaks on May 2nd.

For a dash of Celtic flair, the Central North Carolina Highland Games arrive in Oxford on April 25th. Expect athletes competing in traditional Scottish events kilts and all alongside music, hearty food, and family-friendly entertainment. Best of all, proceeds benefit the Central Children’s Home of North Carolina.

The season rounds out with beloved community celebrations. On May 9th the John Chavis Historical Society hosts CultureFest, honoring local heritage and cultural diversity. Then on Saturday, June 6, the Butner Summer Festival fills the town with live music, a BBQ chicken cook-off, food and craft vendors, kids’ activities and rides, a tractor show, and an unbeatable car show!

With festivals, concerts, art showcases, and hometown traditions around every corner, spring in Granville County offers the perfect excuse to get out and explore.
