North Carolina’s Musical Treasure Returns to the Stage: Eastern Music Festival

Eastern Music Festival (EMF), Greensboro’s nationally recognized classical music festival and summer educational program, returns to the stage June 26 through July 31, 2021, Celebrating 60 Years of Musical Excellence. For six decades each summer, extraordinary musicians from around the world gather in Greensboro, bringing their talents to perform the works of the great masters, past and present. Hundreds of Young Artists practice, perform, and strive for musical excellence; teachers guide and encourage the students; and world-class guest artists and mentors share their talents and wisdom. For five weeks, the community is abuzz with the sounds that are EMF.

After canceling the in-person 2020 Festival due to the COVID-19 pandemic, EMF is coming home to Dana Auditorium at Guilford College. Although this summer at EMF will look a little different from a regular five-week season, the Festival will produce more than 35 live concerts with stellar faculty artists and some of the nation’s most talented and dedicated young musicians. Performances will include full orchestras, chamber ensembles, and solo recitals featuring classical works spanning five centuries, one world premiere, several works by award-winning American composers, and numerous North Carolina composers.

EMF is thrilled to be among the first performing arts organizations in the Triad to return to live, in-person concerts and educational programs this summer. Audiences, students, faculty, and staff are excited for the homecoming to the Dana Auditorium stage and expect this summer to be a memorable experience.
