On a warm summer evening, on August 6th, from 6 pm to 8 pm, the neighborhoods of Pilot Mountain comes alive with the spirit of unity and camaraderie. National Night Out is an annual event that brings together police officers and community members to strengthen their bonds and foster a safer, more caring environment. This is not just an event but a movement that swept across all fifty states, U.S. territories, and military bases worldwide, touching millions of hearts and homes.

The evening promises a delightful array of activities. Families line up early for the FREE hotdogs and drinks, offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Children’s laughter will echo around the safety demos and the ever-popular dunking booth. The beats of the DJ fill the air, creating an ambiance of celebration and togetherness.

The towns first responders will bring their personnel, emergency vehicles, and an array of exhibits and freebies, making the night informative and fun. It is an evening to be noticed, full of engaging activities and opportunities to connect with the community.

As the sun sets on August 17th, Downtown Pilot Mountain is transported back to the electrifying era of the 80s! The town will be buzzing with anticipation for the 80s Party on the Mountain. Everyone is ready to relive the decade that never dies, complete with Aquanet hairspray, leotards, and mullets.

80z Nation will take the stage at the Armfield Civic & Rec Center Amphitheater, ready to rock the crowd with all the top hits from the 1980s. Starting at 7 PM, the event will be a time capsule of music, fashion, and fun. Tickets: $10 (Children 12 and under get in free, but tickets must be purchased in advance.)

People should dress in their best 80s attire and be eager to participate in the 80s trivia to win some cool 80s swag.

The excitement doesn’t end there. On September 1st, from 6 pm to 9 pm, the town gathers again at the Armfield Civic Center to celebrate Labor Day with music and an AMAZING firework show. It is a spectacular finale to a season of community and joy, leaving everyone with memories to cherish until the next celebration. 

Reconnect with nature and the small-town charm reminiscent of older days by exploring our beautiful town. Come visit the mountain at our State Park, walking trails, and campgrounds. Located just a few minutes from the mountain is our downtown area, which boasts delicious restaurants, award-winning bed and breakfasts, shops, and other small businesses.
