Leaf Peeper Trolley Tours Of Burke County

September 2, 2022

Head to Morganton this autumn for a unique way to view fall foliage. Once again, the Burke County Tourism Development Authority offers fall color tours aboard the Ridgeline Trolley.

The tours begin in downtown Morganton and showcase spectacular fall color by traveling into the Blue Ridge Mountains via scenic highway NC 181. Once in the mountains, enjoy lunch at Famous Louise’s Rock House Restaurant, which straddles three counties, and check out North Carolina’s largest volume waterfall – Linville Falls.

The route includes opportunities to see such notable mountains as Table Rock and Hawksbill, as well as the Blue Ridge Parkway. Along the way, learn about the famous Brown Mountain Lights and other tales of the Linville Gorge and surrounding mountains.

Burke County’s color season lasts an extended period of time because the county’s elevations range from 1,000-4,000 feet. The foliage at higher elevations changes color earlier than at lower elevations.

This year will feature a dozen leaf peeper trolley tours. The dates are: Oct. 10, 11, 12, 17, 18, 19, 24, 25, 26, 31, Nov. 1 and Nov. 2. Tours run from 11am to 5pm and the trolley is climate controlled.

Cost for each tour is $45 per person. For details or to purchase tickets, go to:
