Grab your boots, your hiking pole and your water bottle, Beech Mountain will be celebrating its more than 27 miles of trails by declaring May Hike On month! During May, visitors can enjoy guided hikes and giveaways at the Visitor Center.
Beech Mountain offers a variety of beautifully maintained trails for hikers of all ages and skill levels. So, whether you want to challenge yourself and work on your “Beech Body” or go on a relaxing stroll through the woods, you will enjoy waterfalls, wildlife, and wildflowers.
The Buckeye Lake area features two popular trails – Falls Trail which leads to a 20-foot cascade and Buckeye Lake Loop which takes hikers around the lake and surrounding wooded area, considered by the Audubon Society to be a “hot spot” for bird watching in the High Country. And while there, you can enjoy a relaxing afternoon canoeing on the crystal clear waters of Buckeye Lake through our free kayak and canoe
loaner program.
The Emerald Outback, a premier hiking and biking park located near the summit, features nine connecting trails for every skill set and four overlooks which provide breathtaking long-range views, perfect for a spectacular photo to share with friends.
A total of 21 trails and a wide variety of lodging options, with budget friendly pricing, allow visitors to easily make it a full weekend of mountain exploration.
