Valdese is excited to celebrate the summer with several events ranging from the annual Craft Market at the Old Rock School to the Summer Concert Series Kickoff Celebration! While 2020 was a quiet year for Valdese, the town is excited to welcome locals and visitors alike to celebrate the summer in a safe way.
This year’s events will begin with an annual favorite, the Granville Morrow Fun Fish Day at McGalliard Falls hosted by the Valdese Recreation Department. In conjunction with the NC Wildlife Resource Commission, the event will be held on May 15th, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Parents may register their child beginning Monday May 3rd by calling the Valdese Recreation Department at 828-879-2132, or you may register the day of the event. Day-of registration will open up at 8:00 a.m. and will close at 8:45 a.m. This event is for any child ages 4-12, and registration will be open until all spots are filled. Please be aware that all executive orders must be followed to participate, and masks will be required for this event. In case of inclement weather, the proposed makeup date is May 22nd, 2021.
Known for the fun Friday nights and classic car shows, Valdese provides family fun entertainment for all to enjoy. Kicking off the summer concert series is the well-known beach and party band, Cat5. The series will continue each Friday through September 3rd, 2021. Plan to catch a summer concert following dinner in downtown from one of the unique eateries offering a wide variety ranging from Mexican to specialty burgers.
