And for when you need a bit of respite from the merriment, the Cliffs of the Neuse State Park is the ideal escape. Miles upon miles of tranquil paddle trails and hiking routes are the perfect way to spend some time soaking up the vitamin D. On July 20th, Tube the Neuse will see groups of happy friends drift contentedly down the river in the sunshine. Bring your own tube or borrow one, just make sure you’re there. Find out all the details and book in advance at Facebook.com/goldsboroparksandrec/events.

Last but not least, for those who like their leisure time a bit spookier, Goldsboro is running a Summer Series of monthly Ghosts of Goldsborough Tours. If you’re one of those people who loves a good old spine-tingling chilling ghost story, this is your jam. Follow a real-life paranormal investigator, dressed in period costume, and hear (and perhaps see!) stories of the haunted inhabitants of historic Downtown. The buildings, streets, graveyards and battlegrounds of Goldsboro hide secrets of war, death and spirits, which are revealed as you wander with our tour group through the night. Spots are limited and selling fast, so to reserve yours, visit www.visitgoldsboronc.com/tours and book in for July 16th or August 18th.
