The Museum That Runs Roars Back to Life

March 1, 2026 • Destination Magazine Creative Team

On April 2, 2026, the mountain air of Maggie Valley will be filled with the unmistakable roar of vintage engines as Dale’s Wheels Through Time Museum officially kicks off its 2026 season. This is no quiet gallery of relics; it is a living, breathing tribute to American motorcycling history.

Known worldwide as “The Museum That Runs,” the collection features rare machines that are meticulously maintained to operational status. This season features the updated exhibit, “Motorcycle Cannonball: The Endurance of Man and Machine,” chronicling the grueling coast-to-coast journeys of early riders.

“Whether you’re a lifelong rider or a history buff, the 2026 opening is an unmissable event where machines roar back to life!”

The excitement extends beyond the exhibits with the museum’s biggest raffle yet. Two lucky winners will take home pieces of history: a 1946 Harley-Davidson Knucklehead and a 1939 Harley-Davidson ULH in iconic Airway Blue. Join the thunder this April in Maggie Valley.

Witness American motorcycling history in person!
