Town of Beech Mountain, North Carolina
April and May are off-season months in the resort town of Beech Mountain. But that doesn’t mean that there’s not quite a bit of fun to be had. Saturday, April 30th is the date for the town’s second annual Beech Bloomin’ Craft Festival. This event will be held from 12 pm until 5 pm at the Buckeye Recreation Center, 1330 Pine Ridge Road, Beech Mountain, North Carolina.
What treasures will you find at the festival? Local and regional vendors will be selling a broad range of handmade crafts, including jewelry, metal work, textiles, pottery, photography, soaps and more. A food truck will be on hand to provide you with the energy to shop, and live music will round out your day. The following Saturday, May 7th, what is usually considered uncooperative weather will be part of the fun, if it occurs—that’s the date of Beech Mountain’s 2nd annual “In Cold Mud” Mud Run. This is a family-friendly event, and teams of all sizes are welcome. Don’t worry—serious competitors will be placed in a separate group from those seeking a more leisurely run through the mud. Prizes will be awarded, and long-sleeve T-shirts and headbands will be given to all who sign up. The cost is $30 for adults and $20 for kids twelve and under. The two-hour event takes place on the Wild Iris Trail and starts at 10:00 am from the staging area on St. Andrews Road, in front of Fire Station # 2. Parking will be at the Beech Mountain Club on Clubhouse Road, and a shuttle will be provided.
What should you expect at a mud run? The unexpected, of course! The route includes more than twenty obstacles, with a fire jump, balance beams, rope climbs, and of course, mud pits.
